Description[]

Bonethorpe dragons are tamable Elite familiars that can be found flying over the Parna's Steps in ~350m region as well as above the pathway towards The Frost Keep, within Parna's Coast. The player needs to possess a Chilling Orb in order to tame a Bonethorpe.

BonethorpeLocation

Bonethorpe's location on the map

Bonethorpe is said to be a byproduct from the creation of the dragon gods. Since Bonethorpe was born from the dark dragon Kaelgaireon and only the dark arts can hope to tame it, I believe a chilling orb would create enough anti-magic to calm the creature. Rumor has it, a man named Tuntin living on Parna's Coast has one, though he's quite fond of it. I'll have to see if I can make one of my own.

― From Paul Trebel's tribal research journal

Strategy[]

Although Bonethorpe dragons can be found at two different locations, it is easier to fight and tame a Bonethorpe dragon in the Parna's Steps region than above the pathway to The Frost Keep, since you cannot use a flying familiar in that area.

If you want to tame the Bonethorpe dragons in front of The Frost Keep, you'll need to use your crossbow to draw a Bonethorpe's aggro and make it follow you closer to the ground. Using one of the climbable objects within the area and/or a ground familiar to gain some height, you should then be able to (double) jump high enough to begin taming it.

How to Tame[]

Tamed Bonethorpe

(Mounted picture: Bonethorpe)

In order to tame a Bonethorpe dragon, the player must obtain a Chilling Orb. The recipe for this item can be dropped by Brave Tuntin, an Elite mob who can be found in the trenches in front of The Frost Keep.

Once you've obtained the mark, you can find the Bonethorpe dragons flying around at a height of 300-350m above the Parna's Steps region. As with all Elite familiars, it is recommended to lower its HP as much as possible before attempting to tame a Bonethorpe dragon, as you'll need to craft another Chilling Orb should you fail.
